Waukon Ia. Oct. 19

Dear Donald,

We were glad to hear from you and that you liked your work so well. I hope you have not, or won't - the "flu" no one in Waukon has it now, but Decorah and the country is full of it. (I hear) Lucille had it the first week she went to Iowa City but not very bad and she and Bennie are both well now. I was at Lelan [sic] yesterday and read letters from there, they have great times as school has not settled down to its normal count [sic]. The S.A.T.O. Scats (?) they call them, have upset the usual routine and then the ????. They are quarantined now (The city I mean). The girls must have ??? to even go to school. Don't you want to write to the girls 115 E. College St. is their address. I don't know who you remember her so don't know who to write about except ???? School was closed this week and Leonard and Horace went hunting one day and each got a squirrel and had a good time. They are in High School this year. Demight [sic] is buny [sic] in the store and doing well. I think grandpa isn't quite so strong as last year, but not quite so dizzy either, he still goes downtown. I have just written a long letter to Lela and will go and post it and thin (?). We have had a beautiful Oct. no fire in furnace everything green yet. Picked sweet peas, nasturtiums and cosmos this morning have nice tomatoes yet & shell beans and sweet corn for dinner today. But it is raining now and I presume will freeze soon. Albert Wheeler was to see us. Write again when you can. We are always glad to hear from you.
