In 1949, Ralph and Dorothea Wallace bought the Longnecker House. They eventually remodeled the kitchen and added the garage and family room.
Ralph started his own engineering practice in 1948 after completing his military service in World War II. Over the next few years, he was joined by several partners to form Wallace Holland Kastler Schmitz & Co., now WHKS & Co. and it seems the family room over the garage was originally built to be a work space for the growing firm.
Ralph and Dorothea divorced in the 1970s. Ralph lived in the Longnecker House until his death in the 1990s. His second wife, Muriel "Queenie" Wallace, a nurse, ran "Parents United" out of the home for many years until she died in 2015.
