Dear Don,
How's every little bit today? Well here I am down in Duluth spending my good hard earned money. Pinkie and I have forgotten we are school teachers but it won't be long until it will all come back to us. We are going back on the 3:50 train.
The weather has been rotten but is a good thing for one who hasn't new fall clothes. Gee it's hard to pass up the pretty stuff but you know war! Can it be true that the news announced in the Orpheum last night was true. Germany, Austria, Hungary & Turkey have accepted the peace terms? Oh, would that the war would come to an end.
The Orpheum was good last night. Gives one an inspiration always I think.
This is a pretty good hotel, best in Duluth but that's me all over, Don, extravagant!
Edythe has several friends here in Duluth and last night we went up to the Alexandria hotel to see a couple living there. Some couple. I told Edythe she was the type of girl you'd be crazy about. Little, cute, and oh how she could make a piano talk. All the people sitting around had such classy clothes and everything. If it hadn't been for the war I would have begun to hate my life and wish for money, clothes and good times. I could see they were people with a little speed, enof to enjoy life. All of Pinkie's friends are good looking and her best chum "Sunshine" is a wonderful musician. May be I can fix up somthing for you. The fellow Edythe is engaged to graduated from Ag. College N.D. His pictures are awfully good looking in his uniform. He's an aviator. He comes on a furlough in two weeks & I guess Edythe will go to Fargo if Supt. Linn [sic] will give her a leave.
I tell her she'll never come back. Well I must close. Hope there is some mail from you when I get back.
Lovingly,
Leone
