Dear Donald

Your father has been here and made us a long visit - came in Tues. Eve. on the train and went on the noon train today (Thurs.) Don't you think he tired us all out? We were glad to see him even for so short a time. He is looking well and said all were well at home.

We are having a very open winter not freeing nights just now and easy to keep warm especially if one works much, and it's great for saving coal, but we think we can get all we want now that the War is over. We sent Lela's Christmas box today. Wish we could see them when they open it. I think it is two bad she lives so far away from us all Devil-yae? (?)

Bessie and Lucill expect to come home Sat. for a 10 days vacation then there's something doing most of the time.

We have a licensed nurse at the school and she sends the pupils home if they come from homes where there is sickness or if they have temperature. There is quite a lot of "flu" and a number of deaths from Pneumonia following.

I suppose you were disappointed that you did not go to France.
