Dear Don,
Just a line and then I must go strain the flies out of the jelly the girls are going to make this a.m.
I am sending you a couple of packages on the noon mail and I hope you will be able to make use of both. I had no idea what brand you smoked but if this isn't the kind you ought to be able to exchange them.
I intended to stuff the dates but time was pressing so I couldn't but I put a package in for they, like prunes, are good for what ails you.
Have you read about the forest fires we are having up here*. It is fierce down around Duluth. We could see them Sat. night near Biwabik but the wind was in such a direction that it wasn't traveling our way. They have completely destroyed whole towns and lots of lives. The armory at Duluth is just full of refugees and everyone going in has to wear a gauze mask on account of the influenza.
Another week started and I'm again at the "K-k-k-k-kitchen door."
Write often and I'll do the same.
Much love,
Leone
