Dear Don:

Well it seems like a age since I have seen or heard from you, but I suppose you are some cocky soldier boy now, and even my little self tried to get in, but the best I could do would be to get in National or rather home guard, and would have to lie to do this, so thought I would wait til they opened recruiting office again, but it sure looks now like that it will end before I get into it, but if does give the d---- Huns He-- for me.

You will have to excuse my stationary as it is the only paper in the house, and I gess the old man's Co. won't care.

School has been going on for a month now, and they sure have a crazy bunch of old maids, and wifes for teachers, and talk about discipline, sure is tough, but it is what we need.

I have a old girl by name of Savage for Phy. Geo. and belive me she sure is. Could not get a Agri. teacher so she is teaching first year Agri. and she thought 2 end yr. Agri to complicated for her so I was out of luck. Got 2 B's and 2 C's this month, do better next time.

The football team has been going pretty good this year, beat Chas. City 32 to 0 last Fri with C. Anderson holding down rt. guard not so bad for a scrub. We play Milford this Sat. there and have been working in back field this week, gess I can make a go of it.

I suppose you will wonder where I got your address. Well I got it from Dot., now a girlfriend of my step-bros, and he is stepping out with her to-night to a dance, but that is against my religion since football started.

Our old friend Lid. is going to Junior College, and I see her every day, will try to get her to write you, as that is what they tell us you fellows need. Belive me she sure is a nice girl.

I got through my summer's work O.K. coming out $140.00 to the good and a job picking corn for 10c bu. if I can get off 2 wks. Where we are to play Sat. is to be a corn carnvel, and I guess I will try to pull down a first place in the juggling contest if possible. Am going to try to go to to Ames this winter to juggling contests.

There is no school tomorrow or next day so I have got a job raking leaves tomorrow morning and in the afternoon I will practice football, and believe me we will rore Sat. for your sake.

I suppose you will be going over there pretty soon and don't forget what I said in first part of letter. And by the way, have you the Spanish influenza endways?

Well it is getting late, and I have to get up early tomorrow to work, so I gess I will put on the brakes for this time, and belive me I will not forget the good old times we used to have in Agri.
