Dear Don,

Just a line cause I wrote you this morning but I'm so unhappy. Poor Edythe got down to Duluth and the Doctor says she must go home. Her health won't permit her to stay longer.

Gosh when I read the letter I nearly went under. I phoned her at Duluth and she leaves tonite for Fargo. Such luck! The only girl I gave a D. for and she has to go. I don't see why I always have such blooming luck. Everyone's getting the flu. My back aches like a tooth ache and I’spose I’ll be getting it too - and Edythe gone - oh gee!

Well Don for goodness sakes write often, for I sure will be lonesome. No school and it's raining - such a blueness what is.

Anyway thank God the war is over. This is a heck of a life but when I think how awful my summer vacations are and how discontented I am at home, maybe school teaching is just what is coming to me.

I've been with Edythe every minute since school started - absolutely liked her better than any girl I ever knew altho she is five years younger than she was so darned good to me.

When I read her letter I broke down and bawled at the club and I guess the OMS sitting around thot I was crazy but gosh it's great to have a good friend but it's awful to have them leave you in this ungodly fire-burned, cold-influenza country.

Do write me often Don,

Lots of love,
Leone
