Dear Don,
No I haven't the flu and it was neglect that I didn't write. Got your third letter last night and if I felt better I'd write you all the news but I'm home from school with a terrible sick headache. My eyes being the root of all Evil. Was sick a week ago with an attack of peritonitis. Gosh, bro't back the days of 1908. Tho't I'd die for a while but its the good who die young.
Am going to try and sleep this p.m. and then I'd feel the cock of the walk.
The flu is getting fierce her again but the H.S. is still going. I haven't really felt my own self since that Hospital strain. Gee we worked!
I see by the paper Irene Stephenson's husband died with the flu. Isn't that terrible?
Emmet Dougherty - severely wounded - shown in Iowa casualties. Eugene Scroggie - missing in action.
Really think things are almost unbearable.
Will write again soon. That was sure fine for you to see Uncle Beecher.
Don't expect to leave here Christmas.
Lots of love,
Leone
